On behalf of the California Community College Forensics Association, I am pleased to invite you and your forensics team to the 2009 California State Championship Speech Tournament.

HOTEL:
Warner Center Marriott —Rate is $99.00 per night. YES they accept tax-exempt forms, but you need Government ID and bring paperwork.

We have 120 rooms blocked, but you must make your reservations before February 16 th in order to get the guaranteed rate of $89.00. In order to get this reduced rate we need to fill our block, so we need everyone to stay at the hotel, especially Wednesday night, including all those from the north. Please call the hotel and ask specifically for the CCCFA State Champs Tournament rate.
In addition to the hotel information, you will find enclosed all of the information needed to enter your team in the tournament. For a complete description of tournament events, please refer to the current CCCFA Constitution and By-laws .

Judging Assistance forms are due by March 1st at 5pm you can complete the form on line with the link below or email to decarbo_michael@sccollege.edu
Entries are due by March 11, 2009 at 5pm you must use the web entry form which you can access from the link below.

Email the names of students who will be staying in your competition rooms to decarbo_michael@sccollege.edu Once competition rooms are set by the tournament they may not be changed. In an effort to have all competition rooms on the lower floors these forms are critical to create a cleaning schedule and keep the tournament on time.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY:
You can download the student eligibility form from the link below. Bring this form with you on March 18 th and give it to tournament in person. Do not fax or email. Form must have Registrar's Seal and cannot be a photocopy.
Students will not be allowed to compete without this form verifying student enrollment.
JUDGING COMMITMENT:
You owe 6 rounds of judging for every Interpreter's Theatre entered.
You owe 3 rounds of judging for every debate team or LD debater you enter.
You owe 3 rounds of judging for every 4 individual events in each pattern.
All Judges are committed through elimination rounds.
If you don't have at least 1 judge for every four students you're bringing, you need to send in the Judging Assistance Form ( Due 3/1/09 ). If sent in on time, you will be charged $100.00 per slot in your heaviest conflict pattern. If late or not turned in at all, you will be charged $125.00 per slot in your heaviest conflict pattern.
COMPETITION ROOMS:
You owe 1 room for every 4 entries in your heaviest pattern. If you have 5-8 entries in the heaviest pattern, you owe two rooms. If you have 9-12 in your heaviest pattern, you owe 3 rooms.

Students may not enter more than five (5) non-conflicting events. If a student is entered in five (5) events, one event must be declared as a “non-sweepstakes event” on the tournament entry in the “special issues that you need to clarify” section at the bottom of the web entry form.

Parliamentary Topics:
Parliamentary Debate topics will alternate between metaphor, policy, and value resolutions. Three topics will be provided for each round. The Gov team strikes on topic, then the Opp team strikes a topic. The remaining topic is debated. (3/07)

Hotel and Competition Room Etiquette:
Be silent or whisper when walking in hallways day or night where sleeping rooms are present.
No large parties in hotel rooms. Avoid bringing in large quantities of alcohol.
Don't allow doors to slam; please close them quietly.
Don't keep doors propped open: do not wander from room to room throughout the night.
Limit full volume practice sessions to the hours before 11 PM.
For competition rooms, the judge is the first one in and the last one out.
Students MUST NOT be let into a competition room without a judge even if it is their room.
In competition rooms, DO NOT touch people's stuff, open drawers/suitcases, or use their bathrooms.
If you have the honor of hosting events in your hotel room (competition room), please make beds, put stuff away, and bring keys to ballot table 1/2 hour prior to the first round of the day.
